I've totally redone the Affiliate Mistakes program

weekend, which was just after my youngest

1. I've totally redone the Affiliate Mistakes program

Well, I've taken the next step in my business and gotten
my own merchant account and purchased affiliate software
so I can bring my affiliate program inhouse!
Clickbank is a great place to start, and many, many top
authors use them, but in my opinion if you want to step
up to the next level, you need your own system.
So, putting my foot where my mouth is, I've done just
that.
This is the main project that I've been spending all my
time on for the past few weeks, and I'm very happy with
the end result.
The biggest problem I had with Clickbank was that it was
just too easy for a customer to rip off an affiliate.
The majority of the target audience for the "Affiliate
Mistakes" ebook is already a member of Clickbank, so
they look up and see someone else's affiliate ID, and
backspace that out and put in theirs.
I don't mind people taking a discount, but I really
hate to see affiliates get bumped out of the loop like
that.
I know you work hard, and spend a lot of money advertising
products that you like...and then to have someone else
rip you off!
As a merchant I'm not supposed to care about these things
right? Wrong! Remember that I'm still an affiliate of
many programs myself, and I would hope that the programs
I push are doing everything they can to take care of me.
So there is no reason for me to treat my affiliates any
differently.
Anyway, what I'm now offering is:
2-tier payout: 50% and 10%
True 50% ($18.50) instead of the old $16.62 after Clickbank
took out their fees
30 year cookies (this is the max the software will hold, but
who knows if there will even be an Internet in 30 years!)
Better stats information
Links don't have ? in them for submitting to search engines
And much more...
I'm still tagging everyone that signs up for the followup
email course with YOUR ID and putting in your link in all
emails to them to add an extra layer of protection for
your commissions.

the Clickbank ID information, so you will need to fill out

still be yours under the new system.

Having your own products and your own affiliate program
to help you promote those products is really where the
money is to be made online.
There's a lot of money in affiliate programs, no doubt
about it, but you can't beat being the merchant.
Look at all of the big names online:
Marlon Sanders
Corey Rudl
Ken Evoy
Neil Shearing
etc.
What do they have in common?
Their own products with their own affiliate programs.
With your own affiliate program your efforts are multiplied
many times over.

What is the difference? Advertising?
Nope, the difference is the affiliate program for my ebook.
I spent more money getting the first site listed than I
have advertising AffiliateMistakes! Almost all of the traffic
to it is coming from my affiliates
If you have a product already, I strongly urge you to look
into starting an affiliate program as soon as possible.
If you don't have a product yet, well you've got your home
work cut out for you, don't you?
One of the questions on the survey I'm running right now
was if you wanted me to write an ebook on starting and
running an affiliate program.
Even though it came in last place numbers wise, those of
you that have asked for it sure give a strong argument!
So, what I'm planning to do is write a case-study or
something along those lines once I get my next ebook
complete.
But that is several months away, so if you are needing
some help now I have to say that my most useful resource
while planning my program was Neil Durrant's "The
Practical Guide to Creating and Managing a Profitable
Affiliate Program."

This is a major time savings, and in fact I'm going to

building their second tier some before I start promoting
the program.
Anyway, Neil's ebook is a step-by-step guide that shows
you exactly what you MUST do to be able to create a
profitable and successful affiliate program.
With the information I learned from it I've built my
program to where it generates over 85% of my sales
for me.
Now that I have the 2-tier program I expect that
number to be even higher.
So your choices are to wait for my case-study, which
will be a little one-sided as it will basically deal
with the resources that I personally use...or you

running, most people seem interested in something that
shows them how to get things up and running, and how
to get more traffic to what they already have.
These two topics were almost tied and totally blew away
the other choices!

these at the same time to try and get something out to
