Phew! This has been one tough week! I've gotten a ton of
email this week so if you are still waiting for a reply
from me please hang in there another day or two.
Another website project that I'm involved with went into
a full-scale redesign this week and I just haven't had
time to even stop and think for a minute.
I didn't have time to write the article for you that I
had intended to, so I'll get that out for sure next

3. 'Sales assistant' helps turn visitors into buyers

I ran across an interesting product called the Intelligent
Product Guide by Blexel that helps your visitors find the
products they need through a series of questions to try and
narrow down the selection.
If you're like me you know how frustrating it can be to try
and buy something on a large catalog-type site and end up
lost in all the links and product selections.
Blexel's software basically acts as a 'virtual sales assistant
that works for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Basically it starts out with a broad product category and
attempts to start narrowing down the choices by automatically
changing its next question based on the visitor's last answer.
After several questions it is able to offer them a selection
of a few models to choose from instead of hundreds.
I've mentioned many times in the past that the easier you
make the shopping experience for your visitors the greater
the chance that they will actually make it through the buying
process.
A frustrated and confused visitor is almost impossible to
turn into a customer.
Blexel has also put together an interesting affiliate program
run by Neil Durrant of Affiliate Announce fame.

Its a 2-tier program paying lifetime commissions on sales.
Neil has included what he thinks is a very important clause
in the programs terms and conditions to protect affiliates
residual income which states:
Should an affiliate be terminated 'without cause' you
will continue to receive your residual commission pay-
ments at the current rate or be offered an agreed lump
sum in full and final settlement of any customer intro-
ductions you may have made.
Lifetime commissions is something that I think all affiliate
programs should have, and when trying to build your online
business, you should look for these as well.
